As some of you know already we launched our Charity CD #OneMoreForTheRoad Charity CD for the Homeless & Near Homeless of Ireland on the @Ryan Tubridy RTE2fm in support of the #SimonCommunitiesofIreland the link to hear the interview with Maria and Shane, its played on 00:58:08 and the song is played on 01:20:12.http://www.rte.ie/
Maureen said “When I first had the idea to ask Shane for a song it was after hearing Maria Sheridan’s story. I was so upset to realise that she had gone through this state of complete homelessness. As shane said on radio with Ryan, ‘You never think it could happen to someone so close to the industry’. I told Maria ‘We have to find a way of giving back and helping our own, our Irish homeless’.
I called Shane up and said ‘Will ya gizza a song?’ He asked me in a quizzical way ‘You want me to sing for ya?’ Laughing, I said ‘NO, I want you to give me a song to help raise money for the homeless in Ireland! I told him Maria’s story and straight away he said, ‘Y’know, I have one that just may suit you, not sure what else I can do for you guys but I will send the song to you and see what you think’.
That was it, I got the song and it was perfect. A week later I sat on the judging panel of ‘the Stars’ and who was I put sitting beside only Mr Dav Nagle, music producer, Pop Star Studios. I told him what my plan was and he came on board. Then I needed a Production Manager/Floor Manager and who better in the business only Maire Ni Chuinnegain? I told her my plan and she also came on board. From there on, the whole thing took legs.
Maria was in charge of admin and Maire and myself set about getting all the Irish artists together. Shane also pulled in a few. We were set to record and Shane came on board throughout the whole process of recording the song. He backed us, supported us and it got done.
We needed a photographer and of course it had to be celebrity photographer, Una Williams, a dear friend of mine for many years and one of the best in the business. We needed a video and when I told my good buddie Karl Hayden what we were at, he came on board in an instant to help. Then Tony Bohan head of cameras came in to edit for us. What a team we had, but we were not finished. Al Cowan of Sonic Studios then came on board to work with Dav Nagle. We had all the makings of a great song, producers, managers. It was time to rock.
Every single artist and celebrity that came on board did so with a heart and a half, no pauses but instant responses of ‘Yes we are on board’. It didn’t finish there. We needed Media/PR advice and one of my good friends and international PR guru’s Angela Madden from Tempus media came on board and advised us to get the song out for St Patrick’s day. That was our aim however through red tape and so on, our day passed, so we held off for this one. Out of the blue came another Celebrity Media PR lady called Sharon Bannerton of SB Communications who joined ranks with us while Angela was tied up and did our final press release for the song. The Song was finally released to the world on St Patrick’s Day the 17th March 2015 The Song can be down loaded by clicking this Link
What a journey and an amazing group of people. I thank each and every one of you who came on board with a heart and a half and one more before I go, Mr John Morris from FMB Chartered Accountants Dublin has been on board with us all the way through. His time, his advice, his energy and dedication to the team was unreal. I could not recommend him highly enough.
